How long does it take for deworming medicine given to my dog to work?

My puppy was diagnosed with roundworms (GROSS!!). She was given deworming medicine this afternoon at the vet’s office. How long does it take to run its course and if treatment goes well, how long until she’s rid of the worms?

Side note: We have another dose of medicine to give 2 weeks from today and an appointment in four weeks.

Thanks!

Next time she poops it will probably have worms depends on how bad the infestation was.

The medication works pretty fast. Her next bowel movement may have worms in it. They’ll look like spaghetti. However, even if you don’t see worms in her poops, it doesn’t mean the vet was wrong. Roundworms are VERY common. Only the adults will die with this afternoon’s treatment. The dose in two weeks will cover for any eggs that hatch and become adults between now and then. I would ask your vet to deworm her again at the next appointment. Three treatments should do the trick.
    Congrats on your puppy!
