Is there a natural non-chemical way to deter spiders from living in my backyard?
This year my backyard has become a spider metropolis, we have never had this problem before. I don’t mind them in my garden but they are all over my deck too. I have been hosing them off with water but they come back! I don’t like spiders!
Last year I lost a batlle with aphids, I am not losing against the spiders too!
typo: batlle=battle
Spiders taste with the tips of their "feet". So you need to lay or spray something they don’t like. Cedar chips, moth balls, salt. Also, I heard from a spider wrangler that they HATE Lemon Pledge. So I bought a case of it and spray it all along the doors and windows of my house. I have no more spiders inside. I don’t know how effective it would be outside.

Sprinkle a mixture of chyenne pepper and regular black pepper all over the affected areas. If that doesn’t work, grab a big shoe and squish squish squish! Seriously, though, you can wash your deck down with 1 part apple cider vinegar 2 parts DAWN (it must be Dawn, others won’t work!) and 5 parts hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot water. (Like boiling)

Spiders don’t like cedar. Try spreading around some cedar chips in the areas they frequent. Plus it just smells so good!! You could also mix 1 ounce of salt with 1 gallon of warm tap water. It will kill them in a short period of time. Best for the deck area. Stay away from plants.

Napalm works quite well. Just keep your kids away for a few hours.

Best spider repellent is HUMMINGBIRDS! Hummers eat lots of spiders– their source of protein. Additionally they use bits of webs to build their nests. Put out some feeders and the spiders will go away. I’m in the country and had mountains of the things building webs all over the house and barn and fences. Put out several hummingbird feeders and haven’t seen a spider since. Give it a go. It really works.
