sounds like you need some COLOR! =)
Maybe a pastel color so it doesn’t really overwhelm the room, but it’ll add some color; like a pastel green, red/mauve, or blue…I hate blue tho lol I think a light green will probably look the best or even a dark green? References :
YOU NEED COLOR!! Find a color you can live with and paint your walls. Burgundy is nice ….kinda of dark. Pastels are nice also. Once you had the color try to find decor that has the same color in it….. makes it look marvelous… Good Luck with your color search References :
Walls could be: [ either a bright, or vibrant light ]
rose, tomato red
peach, coral, pale orange
banana, lemon, pale gold
lime, leaf, or sage green
aqua,turquoise, teal
sky or smoke blue
lavender?
repeat the colors [ walls and furniture ] in throw pillows, curtains, rug;
use brighter shades for small accessories such as vase, ornaments, lamps/shades, candles/holders.
I would add some brass [ pic frames, lamps? ] and some green plants. References :
I love green with browns. Whatever you do remember that it isn’t dark colors that make rooms seem small, it’s contrast. If you have dark brown furniture and a light pastel color on the wall that’s a lot of contrast and it will make the furniture really stand out in the room. If the furniture and wall color are both darker the room will seem larger because the furniture will seem to be a part of the wall. References :

It sounds like you need some color. I suggest a blue-green, like "Mediteranea" by sherwin williams.

How about "Watery" from Sherwin Williams, and then add little punches of a spicy color like orange. Beautiful!
